Common Heating Problems & How to Troubleshoot Them
Once the fall starts to come along, the days get shorter and the nights become longer and chillier. Now is a common time when people move towards their furnaces looking to take a little edge off of the sudden chill only to realize that they are stuck with some kind of heating problems. Here at Cynergy Mechanical Ltd., we help people at all times of the year, but especially during the first cold and warm days of the year when we are flooded with people unable to get their HVAC system working. If you are stuck with heating problems this fall season, here are a few common ones that many people encounter.
- Your furnace is turning off and on a lot. When your furnace is going through frequent cycles, it can mean a few different things. The simplest and easiest thing to check is the furnace filter, so check that first. Often clogged furnace filters cause your furnace to work hard while the warm air isn’t able to reach you. You might also have a faulty thermostat that could be sending the wrong signals.
- You are hearing weird noises from your furnace and/or vents. Aside from the blowing of air, a furnace should be relatively quiet. If your furnace is making a raucous noise, like a grinding or humming, even a scraping noise, turn it off and call a professional.
- Your furnace is running, but not a lot of air is being expelled from vents. Once again it is time to check your furnace filters! Often the hot air gets trapped because the filter is clogged, so little to no airflow can make it through. Improper vent connections might also be to blame.
